St Giles Cathedral’s Royal Pew

The gothic style pew was designed by William Hay and was Queen Victoria’s royal seat with her retinue in Edinburgh. Finely carved in oak it consisted of a screen, a row of wainscot style pews seats with canopies, and panelling. It was remodelled and moved to a different location in St Giles in 1878, before being finally removed in 2010 to make way for a contemporary glazed screen, after 138 years.

We are offering as one lot, or alternatively as seven individual lots, for those who wish to acquire architectural oak pieces with a royal historic provenance
